Position Summary:The Social Media Content Creator produces timely, engaging, social-first content that helps KQED connect with Bay Area audiences across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. Working within Audience Development, this role develops original short-form vertical videos and static assets from concept through completion. This role sits outside the newsroom and is not a reporting or journalism position.
The ideal candidate is a creative, collaborative storyteller with a strong understanding of audience behavior who always has an eye on the latest social trends. They are comfortable pitching ideas, writing scripts, filming and editing casual videos, designing static assets in Canva, and occasionally appearing on camera.
This role will focus on creating social content about life in the Bay Area and putting it through a KQED lens. This includes adapting the right social trends to be brand-aligned, curating stories from kqed.org , and executing original ideas that help audiences discover more of the Bay Area and feel more connected to the region, the people, and the culture.
