Skilled Nursing Facility Medical Billing Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our team in a Skilled Nursing Facility. The ideal candidate will have experience with healthcare or medical billing and be comfortable working with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and private-pay accounts.

Job Duties

• Verify eligibility and benefits for new resident admissions.
• Meet with residents and/or their families to explain admission agreements and obtain all required signatures.
• Perform medical billing functions, including billing Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and private-pay accounts.
• Review and resolve claim denials and billing issues.
• Post and balance electronic and manual payments.
• Monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable.
• Identify, research, and resolve overpayments and other account discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate and organized billing records.
• Communicate professionally with residents, families, insurance companies, and facility staff regarding billing and payment matters.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred but not required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in healthcare or medical billing.
• Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and private-pay billing preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, medical billing clearinghouses, and medical billing software systems.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
